One aspect of our work at Austin Divorce Planners is that we work with a team of professionals in the area of Collaborative Divorce. Collaborative Divorce resolves a divorce case with a process that assists the parties in to crafting the divorce settlement. The parties work together in a respectful way that protects their children and protect the family’s assets.
Our role is to serve as a neutral financial advisor in the case. We will analyze the financial picture of the family including all of the family assets and develop options for how to divide those assets. Those options will be based on the goals of each party in the divorce. It is not our role to tell each party what to do, but to help paint a picture of the finances for each party post- divorce.
The other members of the Collaborative Divorce team include a communications coach (Typically, a mental health professional) and attorneys for each party. This is a private and confidential process, managed in an office rather than a courtroom setting. It provides the resources, structure and emotionally safe space needed for a divorcing couple arrive at a mutually-agreeable settlement–outside the eye of the public.
Collaborative Divorce is a more cost-effective and efficient process than a traditional divorce. It’s a process that enables couples to invest directly in solutions rather than costly litigation. Collaborative Divorce is a better way to untie the knot.
